Finally Done!

I am finally done catching my blog up.  I apologize for the inconvenience of you having to go backwards to read what has been going on, but I think it will be well worth the read.  I try to keep them short and to the point, as I know my friends and family are VERY busy people.

For visitors, I am NOT making blogging my career so try not to tear down my page too much :)  I am doing this for my friends and myself so I can have something to look back on and smile & hopefully be PROUD of myself to see my growth.

I am looking forward to reading your comments.

Love,

SOLD!!! 2/25/11

Happy Friday to me indeed!!!! I closed my first deal!! It's super exciting & pretty exhilarating.  I knew I would do it, but I didn't expect it in the same week I started making calls.  I guess it is appropriate in the week where The Knicks closed a deal a little more major than mine...just a little...

The funny thing about sales that I have realized just after one little small deal is that you celebrate for a moment, but then your mind jumps to getting to the next one.  I am enjoying my experience and learning so much day by day.  So for this weekend I will celebrate my small achievement and treat myself to some eye candy

Giuseppe Zanotti was really after my heart with this shoe...its classy, sexy, and beautifully constructed.  However, with a $750 price tag I think I am going to have to close a few more deals...lol a girl can dream though right??

And We're Live....2/22/2011

Yay!! After two weeks of training I finally went live calling potential customers.  So far I have had people cut me off with a "Not Interested" or simply just hang up on me, that's my favorite (Insert sarcastic face).  I am quickly realizing it is much like my personal hunt for a size 11 shoe (nope not ashamed of my big foot).  I'll see the shoe, fall in love, imagine outfits; only to have the store associate say nope we don't have it in your size.  WHATT?!?!?!?

That is the same emotional rollercoaster you go on when you're in sales.  You pitch your idea, your warming up the potential customer, and then just "No."  The only difference is that when I am on the receiving end I fall for the "we can order it in your size" and I go back and pick up my new pair of beautiful heels.  I've got to get these people emotionally attached too...maybe this new Jessica Simpson Beckery shoe will do the trick...

and just in case you are wondering...it comes in an eleven!!

Ciao

2/16/2011 Reunited and it feels sooo good!!

Yes! Finally I am reconnected to the world.  After about two weeks of movies and my iPod being on heavy rotation I finally have access to the internet and cable.  I can finally begin to indulge in my guilty pleasures such as Basketball Wives. Kim & Kourtney take New York, House Hunters, and few other shows sprinkled here and there.  When was the last time you went without TV for days in a row?  You should try it, it gives you time to sit and think...think with uninterrupted thoughts...I reflected on how I got here, where I am going, how I will get there.

I was given time to read...I read books I haven't seen since high school.  I thumbed through yearbooks, oh the good times :)  I spent more time playing with my dogs, breaking in new toys.  We explored the neighborhood, adding on a block each time we walk...How wonderful and precious time is, yet we spend it in front of TV or on Facebook looking at friend's pages...Am I shunning the boob tube or Crackbook? Of course not I would be a hypocrite to do that, currently watching (E! news) but what I will say is when you get home instead of going into your normal routine of turning on the TV & taking in all the "reality" shows pause for a second.  Sit down and have a conversation with yourself about your life and the path you are on.

I hate to get all DEEP, but in my own experience I have found that sometimes we become consumed by the day to day grind, we often forget to reflect on how we have gotten there.  Enjoy your thoughts, God, family, and friends.  I firmly believe that in order to get the most authentic message you must receive it when you are uninterrupted, how will that ever happen with the TV on or Mediatakeout scrolling on the screen?

It's all about balance and I feel more balanced, now I will turn the TV off and read a little before bed..

The GirLS are here!! 2/12

Just a week into my move and two of my sorority sisters have come to visit!  Sherika & Shante have come to see me and we are going to have a pre-Valentine's day girls weekend.  We are headed to Philly for a little partying and a little shopping.

This was one thing that really attracted me to York.  It is so centrally located.  I am 1.5 hours from DC 1 hr from Baltimore, 2 hours from Philly, 3 hours from NY.  I can literally hop in the car and take a quick try to any of the major cities in the northeast.

Well, I don't have much time to write...soo much to do so little time Philly here we come :)

ciao

A Good Night's Rest 2/9

Finally I am getting settled and feeling little better in my apartment.  Last night was the first night I actually slept through the night.  My neighbors above me have two big dogs that run throughout the night...this drives Fendi and Cody (my Chihuahuas) crazy, but I think we are getting use to their noise.

I equate me sleeping through the night with feeling better about my move.  It took great family, friends, and prayers to get me to this point.  There were many days of doubt that crossed my mind, but now as I think I am certain it was just the last little bit of fear and uncertainty leaving my mind.

I am super excited about what I will be learning and doing this season and now that I am comfortable with my apartment and location I can really focus on why I am here!  If you are in the central PA area come check out the Atlantic League champions York Revolution.

Dorothyism 2/7

Yes, there are two posts today....it was a bit of a rough day...

If Dorothy’s situation in the Wizard of Oz had a name it would be called Dorothyism, I created this title for the feeling of wishing to be home.  Today I am experiencing a massive case of Dorothyism…although I do have a few variety of sequence shoes, I don’t have any in red.  While work is going well, adjusting to a new city is a tad bit overwhelming.  I wish I could just click my heels and be back home. Just a place of comfort and familiarity.  It’s not that easy, there is at least 5.5 hours between us and I know this feeling of fear is temporary and will disseminate as time goes on.

I am thankful for a phone (although my service in my apartment is sub par...thanks sprint) and once I have my Internet set up I will be able to skype.  This is the time where I pull out the Good Book (my bible) and clinch tight to Jeremiah 29:11...

This is all for now fam...prayers please

It's Systematic 2/7

It’s my first day interning with York Revolution Baseball team.  I am spending the day learning their system.  Isn’t it funny how usually the first day at any company, in any industry you don’t typically jump into work, you have to learn the system first.  Laying that ground work is imperative to being successful.  It makes me think about the Manolo Blahnik classic black pump...It is solid, durable, and attractive and easily received everywhere.

This is a classic black pump and it is a staple shoe in any woman’s wardrobe.  I would even be as adventurous to say more important than the LBD.  You can use this shoe for a hot date or commanding a meeting in the boardroom.   I guess that’s why I wore my black Jessica Simpson pumps today…they’re safe, beautiful, and reliable.  They make me confident and I don’t worry about what’s on my feet…I focus on learning the system…ciao

Hello...Goodbye 2/6

It’s time for those I love most to go and to be frank…I do NOT like it…I am scared, sad, nervous, anxious…questioning my decision.  I guess all the normal feelings someone begins to feel after making such a big move.  I am saying hello to a new chapter of my life and saying goodbye to 25 years of comfort and consistency.  This is not a good day…I am looking for the light at the end of the tunnel, but at this juncture it is a little hard to see.  I guess I need to put on my big girl heels with the most stable platform…because right now I am feeling more like this...
Can someone mail me the clunkiest pair of wedges you can find...because I need all the support I can get…

First Night 2/4/11

As I watch my brother, dad, and boyfriend carry all my heavy stuff in the house it finally hit me…I moved…I now live in Pennsylvania.  It’s super cold here, makes me miss North Carolina’s winter.  This is going to be a long night of unpacking and setting up.  I actually did it folks…I moved to another state to pursue my dream of working in the sports industry.  It makes me think about Lady Gaga and these awesome, but extremely CRAZY shoes.

They are impossible to walk-in (as we saw Gaga channel Scarlet and take a tumble in Heathrow Airport in London) but the fact that Gaga wore them with confidence…she took a risk with her safety to pursue her love for fashion…so like Gaga, I have accepted there is a chance I may stumble or even fall…but I am willing to walk in these shoes for my dreams…

New City. New Path. Hot Shoes. Let's Grind!

Hi Loves..for those of you who don't know me I am Vykky, hailing from Durham, NC.  I am a graduate student pursuing my Masters in Sport Administration.  I am beginning my internship with York Revolution baseball team for the 2011 season.  This opportunity has brought me to a completely different state, without any friends or relatives.

I am leaving behind in North Carolina two awesome loving parents, a protective and hilarious older brother,  my personal Superman--my boyfriend and countless friends.  This blog will serve as an update for my family and friends as well an outlet for me when I experience something new or get a small case of the lonely bug.

If you know me than you know how much I love sports.  Although I am just as girly as the next Miss Priss, I am aggressively competitive and will jump and scream at any sporting event.  This blog will highlight different teams, especially York Revolution *Go Revs* and current events happening in the sports world.

Lastly, it will also be my ode to shoes and all its glory!  I find it amazing what a pair of really tall heels will do for your legs, butt, outfit and most importantly confidence.  I am in no way a shoe snob, meaning I will rock a shoe by “no one” just as quickly as the hottest Louboutin (I am accepting these as gifts by the way) therefore you will find me talking about shoes from different walks of fashion house lives!

I have major goals for 2011 and I plan on conquering them fearlessly.

Your continuous prayers, calls, texts and e-mails are always needed and wanted.

With Love,

Vykky
