Hump Day Highlights #3

Happy Humpday!!  See my highlights below…
NFL
Former NFL star Dave Duerson’s autopsy has been released. Duerson played for the Chicago Bears as a safety and he was a two-time Super Bowl winner.  According to the Associated Press Duerson may have suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a condition linked to athletes who have sustained repeated concussions.  Duerson’s life appeared on downward spiral at the time of his February 17th suicide, from getting divorced to having to close his business and file bankruptcy.  Duerson often complained about memory loss and the inability to spell certain things.
Recently, we have seen so many unfortunate documentaries revealing the true impact football has on a player’s body and mind.  Football is such an expensive business that I believe certain medical red flags are buried under paperwork or a mere “he can walk it off.”  These things must not happen and players need to take more control of their life because they may end up much like Duerson.  He didn’t have any coaches or cutting edge trainers to help him at his lowest point, he was on his own.  Yes, you could be leaving millions because you can’t play because of a concussion, but will those millions make a difference when your mind isn’t functioning properly?
And to think, owners want to add two more games…

Save & Splurge Shoes: Animal Print
The splurge shoe is by Salvatore Ferragamo; it is called the Varina flat and retails at Bloomingdales for $395.  I have a love/hate relationship with animal print, because it can go wrong SOOO fast.  My theory with animal print is “Less is more…a lot more.”  I love this flat because it is structured so well and it has this beautiful feminine bow on the front that makes it elegant and trendy all at the same time.  This is a shoe that I could see a stylish 50 year old woman wearing as well as 20-something woman wearing to a Sunday brunch with friends.

The save shoe is by my favorite fun and inexpensive store Forever 21.  This shoe retails for $14.80.  Now, before you go sprinting to the store, make sure you have a firm understanding of what a shoe that price will provide your feet.  As many of my friends and family know, I spent five years working for New Balance.  During my tenure I really grasped the importance of wearing proper shoes as often as possible.  These ballet flats will give you NO support; they are merely there for fashion purposes.  I say this to say sure wear them, but don’t make them your everyday shoe.

HUMPday Hilarious
I have stumbled upon a website for iPhone users.  My boyfriend recently got an iPhone and I have been victim of the auto-correct, though not nearly as bad as some people.  Click the link below for countless auto-correct #epicfails!
